NYC Marathon finisher!!! Remember our Veterans....

Yeah!! After having an awful night sleeping and getting up at 4:00am, the NYC marathon is just a blurr. I finished and am floating on air:) I thought it was going to be a 4:20 finish but it was 4:26.....I'M HAPPY. It turns out that my average pace was my training pace, so it's cool. My name got in the NY Times, and I think that's exciting. I also met some really nice people....Valerie from FLA (I met her on the Charity bus and told me she's writing a children's book about Tony Macaroni) and Paule from Ottawa. The crowds were fantastic, like the Boston Marathon but twice the size. It was SO COOL running over the various bridges and seeing big ships passing and helicopters all over the place.

I thought about my cousin Mitchell and his wife, Maxine (a New Yorker)....both passed away at a young age of cancer. They met while Mitch was working in NY. I knew they were with me all the way.
So back to my newly acquired marathon buddy, Paule. She is a teacher too!! She teaches French to Yr 2 (grade 2).  She and I ran together from mile 10/11 all the way to the finish. We talked until the last mile when we felt we had to give it all we got!  (LOL).....We kept each other moving when we felt like croaking. Now she wants me to run the Ottawa Marathon in May (YES.....I already checked out the dates...Memorial Day weekend). It's a BIG MAYBE.

What I'd really like is to have Fancy Nancy and I run a marathon! Not sure if that will happen but maybe. Next up for me.......REST!  Then in the new year......SWIM.....and triathlon.

So check out some photos below. I need to put my legs up and ice....sore but ok. YUP....this cookie still moves and can kick it until the end (and throw a few elbows while a few guys try to block me out).

Medal is cool, but Boston is still my favorite medal. I walked two miles after this!!!
Times Square before Team Hole in the Wall dinner. Sephora is one of my favorite stores but I stayed away. Brian was kind of grouchy. I think he was hungry and fed up with the crowds. I loved it.

  1. Great pictures. I tracked you all the way through your race and saw that you picked it up a bit at the end. So good that you found a nice (Canadian) friend to run with.... ever been to Ottawa? It's lovely!

I am so happy for you and glad to see you looking so wonderful, too.

  2. Congratulations! Part of the fun of racing is the people you meet. I hope to run NY next year.
