26.2 miles.....THE Boston Marathon

MARATHON MONDAY! Hoping for great weather! The cheering team will gather at mile 26....in front of Pru.  Here's who we'll be watching......
   * Stuart (my little bro...well he is 44), running for Mass and Eye and Ear.
   * Kyria (Travel Spot blogger) qualified!
   * Phyllis (former teacher colleague) qualified!
   * Jessica (my former 1st grade student (1995)in Marblehead...charity runner...who is cute as button and loved when I did cartwheels in the hallway).
   * Dayna running for the American Liver Fdn
   * Dave (Chicago) Wounded Warrior Project

After running 7 marathons, here's how WE feel at mile 20 and then it's a mind game. Just put one foot in front of the other and dig deep...really deep.

The best turn in the world!!! Thanks Stu for my birthday present!

So when your friend is out there plodding along, running to make the world a better place for someone else or themselves, a turtle's pace is just fine!

And here I am....still wearing my winter hats! Why? Because I love hats and this was a present from a dear friend a couple of weeks ago, who knew I was down.  He said, "I need you to smile...because you brighten someone's day no matter how bad it gets."

So marathoners....I'll brighten your road to the finish! Go kick some tushie, and as Frank Shorter once said, "The race begins at mile 20."
GOOD LUCK!!!

Next stop....ME....Chicago Marathon....October 13, 2013

  4. Excellent post! Thanks for shout out. Thanks for being my training partner through two 20 milers, and a fast 10k last weekend. I can't wait to see you and my crew (Cindy, Courtney, and Racel), and of course Gina, and I think her son Nicholas at the finish line.

I can't disagree...The best turn in all of the world...Right on Hereford, Left on Boylston. There is no rush like hearing the crowd as you turn down onto Boylston st.
