Monday Motivation - Rethink the Plan

This quiet weekend allowed me to rethink my 2014 running plans, and here's what I decided, "Enough." Thanks to my running logs, I'm able to say that and "not important." Here's why.

For me, knowing when to walk away takes courage, it's not about quitting, it's about giving myself a break and my body a rest. My hip has been bothering me since Xmas. The hip "shake up" literally shakes me, and reading my logs from the past 3 years, brought everything together. I'm my own Champ.
I can take a break. I deserve it and my body will be happier for it. It helped reading a few of your blogs and "texting" with Nancy (Living The Dream), my dear friend and best running pal. Moreover, since 1996,  I've kept a folder of motivational/inspirational clippings, and more than ever,  I needed them this weekend. Will I be okay? Yes.



My logs from the past three years show my accomplishments and my low moments, yet my strength came through clearly. I'm mentally and physically strong, no doubt about it, but it's time not to give a f**k or perhaps say, it's not important. 
So I'm out of a most challenges (not all listed on my blog), and will carry on through 2014 at whichever pace and race I decide to do, and man….it feels good. Let it go already!!!!
**BUT I am looking forward to the London Marathon and THAT will be my last…..well maybe:)

Coming up: My FLA trip to Clearwater to run a half marathon. So excited to visit my buddy down there, and yes,  I'll bring my man with me, Garmin, just so I can clock the correct distance because THAT will not change (at least not now). I still would like a new Garmin, maybe the green one???

  1. Good for you! I think it is important for your mind and body to rest and it takes strength to recognize that and follow through with it :) London! That will be awesome!

  2. You are one of the strongest people I know Jill!!!! This is big for you....you deserve it!!! Seriously I should give you a monthly allowance for you to go shopping for me at Marshalls!!!! You always get the best things!!!

    I never worry about dialing back or time off from running ....it's all about cycles of stress and then rest.
