Harpoon Helps....for The Angel Fund (ALS). I lost my dear friend Fred in 2004 to ALS. I helped care for him when I spent 10 days in Long Beach, Calif. with his wife Marion (my "mom" of the West). It is a horrible, devastating disease as is any disease. He died a month later on my birthday, but I think Fred wanted to remind me that he is my Angel and that he'd want me to celebrate to life.
I ran with my heart and soul because I wasn't sure how I'd be feeling after my food posioning situation. I did it....42:20 (last year I ran it in 43:32. Where did the speed come from? My legs were smoking, wings on my Saucony's and Fred, hovering right over me. I miss him so much when I spend my yearly visits in Long Beach. He was like a 2nd dad to me. I used to call him Dadio which made him laugh everytime. I know he's proud and I'm proud, that I was able to take care of him for a little while. Miss you Dadio!
On another note: Planks continue....did a cycle of 5 last night: 2 high planks at 60/55 sec...forearm plank 50 sec...
2 side planks at 30 sec each side. This will be my plan for the week. And by the way, I am still doing the push-ups.
Nice going on the plans, and the pushups.
ReplyDeleteA very nice tribute to your friend, Fred.
I'm going to do these tonight! It should prove how much I love you since planks are like the bane of my existence!!
ReplyDeleteYou rocked that race....of course! What an amazing story!
