Starbucks will never be the same after Gina, Marguerita, and I were there. The conversation changed topics as fast as one could say coffee, and it wasn't about coffee. NO, it was about men and dating (mind you they are both married with children).
We threw in a little about fitness and running. I'm still trying to recruit a bigger team for Take the Lake 5K on June 30th in Wakefeld, MA. All of the money goes to the American Cancer Society. We run for Mitch and Max, for Uncle Nissy, and others we lost to cancer. This will be our 4th year (I'm sort of the honorary Capt...well I decided that anyway).
We got to talking about make up and I brought up my new blog....lipstick only for this chick. Needless to say, we went round and round discussing colors and brands. Blah...Blah....Blah...
My favorites are Lorac, NARS, Smashbox, and Buxom (not me...ha! ha!). Friday...SEPHORA box arrives...YIPPPEEEEEE!!! My new Sephora lipstick and Smashbox tin with a lovely selection of colors. I'd show you but it will have to wait. Yes...I am a VIP at Sephora and racking up those bonus points.
Anyway, my colors ARE NOT....raspberry....dark plum....or coral. So, Nancy and Gina got lipstick today from yours truly. Happy to oblige.
So here's why I am a lipstick junkie....but won't wear raspberry......
I've never been a make up wearing gal, just moisturizer and lipstick. I remember as a young girl, watching mum apply lipstick before she and dad would go out for the evening. I can even remember her perfume (Shalimar....NOT for me). Lipstick!!!
I was hooked! I'd take her lipstick with a little mirror and apply this creamy stick of luxury...red.....brown...whatever she had...I experimented. Woolworth's in Malden Square was the place to be in Jr high. Covergirl and Bonne Bell were most popular. When the lip glosses came out, it was bye bye stick!!
Then one day a friend gave me a TUBE of shiny, creamy Raspberry....totally cool. Until.....my older bro Philip, takes one look at me and says, "YOU look like a hooker!"
WHAT??!!! Rub off ASAP. Yet I'm thinking, WTF...it's summer. I'm wearing hip hugger bell bottoms, with a mid-riff top tied, platform sandals, big hoop earrings (still wear that style today!!), and my hair is cut in a shag with wispy bangs, and my face is filled with freckles and slightly tanned. I check my "cool" self out and say, "REALLY? Hooker? Are you kidding?" I get rid of the lipstick ASAP...Hooker no more.....
Philip looks at me and says, "I don't want my sister looking like a hooker, that's what the guys will think and you're too cute for that."
I never wore that color again.
On that note:
SNOW?? NOT AGAIN!!!
I'll be back....Miss Fancy Nancy and I ran today. So much fun to have her with me on the Island!
I love that spatula photo! You guys look like you're having so much fun! I am so glad you told the lipstick story!
ReplyDeleteThat was such a fun night!!!!!! Who cares if we were loud!!!!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI noticed you didn't smile but smirk and tilted your head downward and not upward. What is the deal with that?
