144 miles for Sept. Tomorrow, I rest.
Round 1 - ZOOMA Cape Cod Half Marathon
177/394 2:07:34 Fine with me!
We got a great runner necklace (really wish it was a bracelet but ok).
I started with a 5 am drive to Falmouth on Sat because by the time I got out of school on Fri, traffic was ridiculous and I just couldn't cope. I turned around and went home. The course was tough! BUT, not as tough as race day 2, (after a yummy night of a filet mignon and vodka tonic I thought WTF am I doing??...I never do this!!!). I was very happy to be with Nancy (pics below, Old Silver Beach) and we ran together for most of the race.
Sunday.....6:30 am. Round 2.
Nahant 30K was really 18.82 miles, to be exact. 7/24 3:12:??
I did the "Sunshine Start" because I knew I'd be slow. As I was approaching the finish line, this woman called out to me, and said you are smiling and look adorable!! I didn't really feel that way but it made me feel good as I crossed the line and got my medal. I waited for Stu and Dayna to cross and Stu just kept shaking his head....."Wow Jillsy...tough....tougher than Cape Ann!"
So, I go home, make lunch, have an iced coffee, and put on one of the best love story's, Pride and Prejudice (the one with Kiera Knightly). I can't help it, I have great memories of my Cambridge days, and I've watched enough running movies up to this point (still love St. Ralph and Run Fat Boy Run).
Oh what a joy to get this from a fourth grader. I didn't realize that she wrote me a message on the back. I choked up. This means so much to me after only 4 weeks of school. Guess I'm doing something right. Plus, I have about 20 kids that want to help me in the library!! I can't believe it! I keep telling them, this is OUR library and why should I have parents come in when I can have them and I told them I'd buy lunch:) Pizza...of course.
I already have about 10 kids running the *Bread of Life 5K on Sunday Oct 6th. Media Op!! Ha!
**This run will be my Run for a Teacher Virtual race #13in2013 (I'm WAY past 13!!).
Next, (pic below) I was the topic of conversation wearing DZ's gift from Chicago. A lot of comments went my way...."Hey I like your shirt!" "You a cop?" "Is your boyfriend a Chicago cop?" "Who do you know on the force?" I've never had so much attention wearing a running shirt.
Dayna and Stu with me on Nahant beach.
I'm tired, but I think I'll have some ice cream.
I like that shirt with the Chuck Taylor on the front
ReplyDeleteFunny thing I don't even have one of those shirts...
ReplyDeleteI'm tired just reading about all this running you did in two days! You & Dani doing back-to-back races are amazing ;) Great job Jill!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great card from your student. Great day on Sunday and yes, that 30k was as tough if not tougher than Cape Ann.
ReplyDeleteI like that shirt! You are really a running machine these days! Go Jill Go! Good luck in Chicago!
