Talk Turkey Chica!

Happy Turkey Day! I love this day and it's Hannukah. Really not that excited but maybe I will on Saturday, when we have a family party, including the decorating of Rob and Paula's Xmas tree with the kids!
Welcome to my family, a cast of characters who are THE best. Wouldn't be surprised if extra people are invited because anyone is welcome. Joking and eating is a prerequisite, so food, like latkes, lasagna and chicken parm (Paula, my sister in law is Italian), drinks, and gifts also included.
My Hanukkah presents so far: Alex and Ani bangle bracelet (map of Martha's Vineyard) and money towards my Chicago marathon trip. I asked for a nice wine cork screw and the Bullet (time for me to make protein drinks and stop shaking the container). Anything from Patagonia too.
My birthday is in January so if I'm not spoiled this time, 2nd chance end of January (including new sneakers, the Nantucket Alex and Ani, and a brown Hermes belt (yeah...I'll keep wishing. It's like that classic Burberry trench coat I've always wanted...keep dreaming Jillsy).

Anywhooooo.....
Check this out, my preliminary showing of Chica Bands Seat Hero! It comes in lots of different colors too. More details to follow, but go on www.chicabands.com if you can't wait.

What a great holiday gift or birthday present or whatever you wish!

My Union Jack head band for London, compliments of Chica Bands!!!

So......
Today my niece Courtney turns 15 (Stu's oldest), and man, I was so excited when she arrived because all she did was smile and laugh. I had so much fun with her when she was little. Now, it's girl talk about boys and where she wants to go to college (high honors student), shopping and cheer leading. Gone are the days when she would ask why I was childless and what happened to that guy and the other guy. Now, she is my biggest cheer leader in the happiness world and that it's ok NOT to get married, but surround yourself with people who make your life better with laughter, help you through tears, and want you to do well.
I held her tightly when we ran from the bomb at the Boston Marathon waiting for Stu/dad (she had a bruise on her arm from me holding her). "I don't want to die Auntie...please."
"I won't let you...I promise...I go first."

Above, Court and I after my first half marathon in 1999. The Law Enforcement Half now called Boston's Race to Remember.
On the right, a month after she was born. She was so friggin' cute and smiley (still is). I held her every chance I could! Stuart was such a proud papa, but also lived in fear of the misery that was to follow in the upcoming years....TEENHOOD!!!

Anyone want to visit a new place? Go to Boulder, CO. Lately I have Boulder on my mind and wanted to share. It's a beautiful place with cool, easy going people (also VERY fit people). I really like the Boulder Creek Trail and the trail that runs up into the mountains from Pearl Street.
I've never seen the Flat Irons with snow but I've seen it a few times like the pic below. A fantastic place to run, bike, hike, boulder, climb.....eat, drink...etc.....

That's enough turkey talk. Bunch of nothing to gobble about.
Just fun memories of this:

Enjoy being with your family and friends tomorrow and remember those out there, like our service men and woman who are still fighting for us!

Not going to get in enough miles to make 100 this month, but I'm ok with that....FINALLY! This little body needs a rest.
Cheers!

  1. I've been thinking about getting my husband a car seat cover. He sweats big time when he runs. Maybe for Christmas!
